I once contributed to an APG training day on 'international planning'. How to do global strategy, that kind of stuff. Being me, I think I slightly misunderstood the brief and rather than talking about global research methodologies I decided to talk about the real international planning issues - how to deal with jetlag, how to get people in the local organisation to realise that you're not an arse, how to pack. That kind of stuff.
I'll dig out the presentation sometime and stick it up here.
But here's another one of those issues that travel confronts you with. I'm here in the US, having a stimulating time thinking about brands and stuff, staying in a nice hotel and Anne's at home dealing with issues at school with Arthur. And they're not huge issues (though they feel important from eight timezones away) but as soon as you hear about them you want to fly home and solve them. (Not that I could 'solve them' anyway.)
Ah, business life.
Bless you. Just don't think that you have to buy loads of gifts to compensate. You don't - although I'm sure Arthur would disagree.
