This is complete genius; Bill DeRouchey an information architect at Ziba design has a blog called History Of The Button. And it's just that, it's detailed, imaginative (and slightly obsessive) thinking about one of the things most of us mostly ignore, just the stuff I love.
(And if you've never seen what Ziba did for Umpqua Bank you should check it out.)
That's a great website (the button one). Brilliant.

I think I am more of a switches kind of guy...
Although I like the way the symbols from the sony walkman made it on to the Playstation controller.

this is great. i actually bought a book called the art of instructional design which chronicles how instructional images (you know, those how to assemble your juicer photos) have been drawn from the earliest days until now. i'll try to put a pic up on my blog
