About 9 years ago I decided to walk up the Edgware Road, from Marble Arch to the bottom of the M1. This morning I thought I'd do it the other way round. I got the tube to Brent Cross and set off.
I love the way this scrap heap perches above the world, you can't see much. Makes you imagine there are Transformers behind there, perfecting themselves:
North Circular humour here:

Strong graphics as you head towards Cricklewood:
Cash registration not the business it once was, it seems:
I like the way the type on this cafe looks. Reminds me of the way road signs degrade.
Unusual for a house number:
I can't believe I didn't notice I was walking on Shoot-Up Hill last time I did this. Apparently it's only called this because it's quite steep.
Print's not dead. And it's evidence of cultural diversity.
Passive aggressive window display:
Artisanal has to compromise in Kilburn:
Nice to see that Ellie's is still there.
I love these signs, glad they've just been cleaned up, not upgraded:
Lovely:
Maybe it's the walking and thinking about 'place' but I rather thought the sunglasses gave me an air of Jonathan Meades.
It's what he would have wanted:
More good signage:
If I'm not mistaken there's some sort of 50s diner architecture under there. I wonder if that's what it used to be:
Nice of Wetherspoon's to pay tribute to a place of execution:
And there we are, back at Marble Arch, at the enormous horse's head. I'm sure I would have noticed it on the last walk but I didn't. Apparently that's OK though, because it only went up in 2009.
