This is magnificent. Millions of people stare at the tube map everyday; and then one day, one bloke (Paul Middlewick to be precise) notices that there's an elephant hidden in it. And now there are a load more. And you can buy t-shirts and stuff.

I saw this posted on a wall this morning. It looks so fresh and new. I presume the MU are still saying this, but are they still issuing these iconic stickers? I can't find any evidence on their website. And there's not a lot of discussion of what exactly constitutes live music. I presume a DJ isn't a musician in their world, but is she if she does enough 'turntablism'? and what about karaoke? is that live music?

Finding Nemo's just come out in the UK. My son is addicted to it. We have to watch it once a day. Which is OK because it's a terrific film, certainly better than the ghastly Thomas and the Magic Railroad. But even Pixar would have trouble making the fish on this page look cute. Astonishingly ugly stuff, probably more ugly because they're out of the water. I guess people don't look so good once they've drowned.

Miniature Golfer (via things again) goes a long way to rivalling martin parr in being a simultaneous celebration of, and lament for, contemporary british life. Though that probably wasn't their plan.
(these fantastic shots are from the minature golfer galleries)

Who says there's no room for personal expression within the constraints of bureacratic stricture? If you wanted to find an analogy for brand management (and why would you?) ; think about this. There must be fairly clear and straightforward guidelines concerning what a bike on the road should look like. And yet the variety of actual bikes on the road is enormous. The average 'brand bible' is much more wooly, so different implementations of brands must be much more various than this. And yet, it doesn't matter. This is still, obviously, a bike.
